Bamboo Formwork for Shaped Concrete Elements
This project investigates using bamboo as a low-cost - low-carbon solution to creating formwork for geometrically complex concrete elements.
Overview
As part of my undergraduate research with the Digital Structures Group at MIT, I assisted Ph.D. student Mohamed Ismail in investigating shaped optimized concrete beams and floor systems. As an extension of this work, I explored the viability of using bamboo as formwork to create the geometrically complex beams Moh was studying in his work.
